The Big Bass Benefit for Family Services Center was first held in 2001. The family fun event encourages anglers to come out to Lake Brownwood for a day of fishing and fundraising.
For many of those fishing it is a profitable day as well. The angler who brings in the 'Big Bass' has a guaranteed cash prize of $1000 to take home this year. The remainder of the cash prizes pay out at 80/20 of the entry receipts. With 150 entries 1st place in the Open Division will pay out $2362.50, 2nd - $1012.50 and 3rd - $675. For those who don't place in the money there are traditionally many prizes to choose from. Most years everyone who weighs in a fish takes home a prize. It's well worth the trip to Brownwood. The fishing is great!
